Piratebay and a whopping 4(!!!) other 'torrent sites' now blocked in Australia..

..in an obvious effort to curb/curtail 'rampant' piracy. I wonder when they are going to crack down on the libraries or people whistling 'copyrighted works' on the street(ie songs)? I mean, why not? Happy Bday is copyrighted AFAIK and many other 'classic' folk songs/stories etc.. which is where Disney got most of their inspiration/ideas to begin with, and then they go and copyright the shit and then get copyright extended for perpetuity. Disney can go die.. never was a fan of them anyhow. I prefer anime/manga over Disney shit anyday, and even Marvel > Disney. But i guess when you're that rich, you can just buy Marvels rights(Xmen or someshit, i forgot) or even Lucasarts/Starwars n shit..

just noticed this today.. and since i don't have any VPN's or server i can bounce off, i just googled KAT and went there instead. It still works.. lmao.

Can anyone ping/access 178.175.135.122(piratebay.se) and confirm that it's just me and not the site that's down also? Thanks

Good job gov! You wasted how much time/money, and for what? You inconvenienced me and others for like 5 seconds.. at least they aren't letting those cocksuckers sue us for millions, and at least they aren't doing swat style raids on us like what they did to Kim DotCom, but i guess that was since he was the owner of megaupload, but still.. that's US companies/corporations asking foreign gov/authorities to do their corporate bidding, and they fucking did it!

I'm just waiting for Aus to copy the US and legalize weed. That's what we should be copying, not fucking blocking piratebay or stopping it from resolving DNS etc(it's not just that, i checked since i typed in and tried to connect to the host directly after resolving it manually.. heh. If you dunno what that means, it just means i typed in the number instead of words, aka 178.175.135.122 instead of piratebay.se). I can't even ping 178.175.135.122

Can anyone ping/access 178.175.135.122(piratebay.se) and confirm that it's just me and not the site that's down also? I'm trying to figure out just how they are doing it, since it doesn't seem to be just a simple dns fail but most likely ISP blocking the whole site/host, but yeah. That will only be good until they change hosts, and like i said, they can't block them all. You block one, hopefully 2 will re-open since there will be a vacuum after a major site like piratebay or KAT shuts down, and there will be others who will be willing to pick up the slack and try to get those now 'homeless' netizens to 'move in' so to speak.

Lastly, fuck you OZ gov! Fucking Turnbull and Liberal party corporate lackey fuckers. Liberal party = economically/socially conservative right wing party in Aus and currently in power..

Didn't even know or hear about this till just now when i tried to visit the site.

But yeah. How the fuck can they just ban torrent sites? It's not like torrents themselves are illegal or copyrighted, there are plenty of 'legal' and legit reasons to use torrents other than copyright infringement, and yeah. We already have mechanisms in place to deal with copyright claims and shit like that.. ie like the DMCA for the US, but an AU one.. why the fuck do they need to block the whole site? But ok, even if they do(and they did), good luck to them. They aren't going after end users like me, so yeah. There's nothing to stop me from trying to access it and nothing to punish me if i do successfully access it.

I guess they are only going to punish the 'idiots', or rather, everyone else except the hardcore/educated 'pirates' like myself.. which is who they are actually trying to target. haha. When will they realize that piracy HELPS sales, rather than considering it as 'theft'? No, i would NOT have bought it if i couldn't DL it, and sometimes AFTER i DL and watch shit, i end up PAYING for other related shit or whatnot as a RESULT OF PIRATING and TRYING IT BEFORE I BUY IT.

Just ask like new musicians and new authors or whatever if they would rather have a million people pirating their shit and not selling anything, or they would rather have 10 people buy their shit and then only 10 people see/hear their work in the end..

Which would you pick? It's a fucking no brainer to me.. even if 100 or 1,000 people buy my shit for like 10 cents or a dollar each even. Yes, i would give up $1,000 in order to get 1,000,000 people to see/hear my work and subsequently, that means that a million people were interested enough to want to pirate my shit.. i'm sure i could make more than $1,000 dollars as a result of this new found 'fame' and all this 'interest' in my work. My next film/song etc, WILL probably sell and i WILL make more than 1,000 after that.. seriously, internet is like free marketing/publicity.. but in the end, they will probably end up paying others to do the same shit, and then they are basically LOSING money as a result, and this is REALLY losing money, not the bullshit every pirate = losing money or a lost sale bullshit formula that they subscribe to etc..
