Ten year retrospective on Chris Benoit murder-suicide

Ten years ago as of June 24, Chris Benoit murdered his wife, son, and then hanged himself in the family's home outside of Atlanta. If anyone followed pro wrestling, this is one of those events that changed the world, even if you hadn't paid attention to the sport in a long time.

Jack Encarnacao, a Boston Herald reporter and Sherdog.com staffer, and JP Sarro have recorded a three-part, 11.5 hour discussion of the event. I'm a few hours in and I'm just floored.

It is the latest episode of their excellent podcast for fans of pro wrestling who lost interest in it at some point, so-called "lapsed fans." It's two college buddies, now in their mid thirties, who go back over old pay per views, cover new ones, and reflect on the place of pro wrestling in the lives of even the people who no longer follow it. The episodes are incredible for the depth of their analysis, each one lasting several hours. What's more, they've compiled an almost exhaustive oral history of WWF/WWE and WCW, hours-long installments on each Wrestlemania, Starcade, and essentially every major show that has been held from the 80's on.

It's called The Lapsed Fan. Here is their SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/thelapsedfan. However, it looks like it's not up there yet, so check in your podcasting program.

This has always been a special podcast, and I'm sort of a podcast nut, but this one is REALLY something special if you've got any interest, now or past, about wrestling.

I'd be really interested to hear if anyone remembers their reaction when they heard the news. I do, but I don't want to be talking to myself if no one else cares.
