Future of gaming/Battlefront 2 discussion

I just watched this, and yeah. It's a fucking joke how much they are fleecing cunts now. I haven't been playing much games recently, and i haven't bought a game since D3, so i just wanna see what you guys think of the current industry and the future of gaming etc.

I suggest you watch these videos so you know what i'm talking about below.

But basically, the gist of it is this.

Characters and weapons and skills etc are locked, and the ONLY way to progress is "loot boxes". And IIRC, you use credits to open loot boxes, and you get credits from doing various shit in game.. so credits is the basic economy of the game, and of course you can pay money for credits.

If you've played F2P games, especially mobile games, you'd know since every mobile game basically uses such a system. But yeah, loot boxes are basically gambling since it's random, and it doesn't guarantee you get what you want, IE you are trying to get gun for certain class, or certain skill for certain class, it doesn't guarantee shit, instead it will give you random skill from any class..

It doesn't reward skill. Even if you pwn in the game/match, you will get the same amount of credits as some dude who sucked but was on your team or whatever. IE someone who had 40 kills gets the same credits as someone who got 2 kills. lol

It's basically pay to win, the only thing they changed is they took out the 'epics' or someshit, or restricted it so you can't get it in llootboxes until you've logged a certain amount of hours or whatever. Dunno exactly what they did, but they say they took it out but i doubt it since it's still pay to win(but like i said, there's random element so it's not just pay to win, but pay to gamble to win.. which just makes them even more money from idiots who are willing to pay to win in the first place).

Actually, this is even worse than mobile games, since mobile games don't usually just have lootboxes to progress, you can actually buy shit and know youre gonna progress 100% for a certain price.

But compared to mobile games which are F2P, this is like an 80 dollar game that basically ties progression(ie the main object of the game) to lootboxes which you HAVE to use to level up/progress your character. Anyone who buys this and plays it is basically a sucker. I heard that to completely unlock all the weapons/skills, it will take you something like 3,600 hours to unlock based on the maths Joe did in the link above, and that was estimate for 3 weapons, when it's supposed to be 4, and he assumed that they will get 15 crafting credits from EVERY lootbox(i'm guessing probably won't even, maybe you'll get just a skin and some other bullshit in some, unless there's like a baseline minimum credits that you HAVE to get in lootboxes, otherwise that will be the biggest sucker move ever if people fall for this shit lol)

I remember the whole CS:GO debacle where they had gambling n shit and that dude from YT got busted promoting his own website, and it seems like this is basically combining/legalizing it now, and all for a 80 dollar game. lol. If people actually buy this and actually get invested in it, i can see heaps of kids or even adults getting gambling addiction problems, like fucking bad. That's basically what game companies are now.. they might as well go into the gambling industry and make poker machines, because playing these games is basically akin to playing poker machines, except you don't have any chance to win anything unlike poker machines and EA doesn't have to pay out anything, they just take it all in.. lol
