I've been having extended arguments with a colleague recently regarding white privilege and racism.
The whole notion of white privilege has been something that, for me, feels absolutely out of place in current society and whilst I appreciate the sentiment that recent history has been unkind to people of colour, I do feel that the privilege--if it is even significant in society--arises from a majority privilege instead and is possibly a lot less visible in today's society.
I'm really interested to hear what everyone has to say about this. I want to hear all sides of the argument without the hindrance of antagonistic comebacks which do nothing to forward the conversation.
Maybe I'm ignorant. Change my mind. For context, I am in Australia but am happy to discuss this in terms of US/EU contexts.
