Hey guys,
I posted a while back here as I popped in to say hello and I've been thinking about writing a book for a long time and just wanted your thoughts on it.
For those that don't know me I was pretty much a loser really when I was young and escaped my problems through video games and of course warcraft. Things have changed so much for me since then.
Since I became a dad to a beautiful little girl thats about 15 months now its really made me think about what knowledge and example I want to set for her. I wanted to ensure she learns from the mistakes I made in life and ensure she understands the reasons for these.
The way I thought I could teach her was to write a book for my daughter chronicling my life and my mistakes so when she's older she can always refer to it; I was thinking of making it into a podcast too so she could hear my voice if she needed to.
The book however is partly about my early struggles but also slanted for entrepreneurs too; I'm by no means mega rich but I'm in the early stages of my own business which I'm slowly scaling up and I think I could hit a pretty big milestone in the next few years.
I'm still working in a day job but by night unknown to anyone I have my own business which makes probably more than my CEO. Thing is im treated like crap at work and no one even realises. I'm working my way to the ultimate moment of handing in my resignation and sending a mass email telling people "thanks for all the fish" type email that will chronicle the hell I've put up it, how I had been passed over for promotion numerous times for even a slight bump up (5 failed job applications) yet clearly have the ability and aptitude to go out and do well.
Basically what every employee dreams of doing - sending a big F-You to the bosses (like what you would do if you won the lottery) - The difference however is I haved worked for it all in secret unknown to everyone and I want to chronicle it all as a book including the moment I hand in my resignation and everyones reaction - ultimately its about being a life lesson for my daughter on what hard work can achieve and how anything is possible if your will and desire is such.
I've had a lot of bad things happen but as I've sat down and thought about them all I've realised they have all contributed to a lot of the good things too. Almost like a series of unfortunate events which have been a catalyst for something positive (or something which I've turned into greater positives)
The question is would a book chronicling these true events make an interesting read for someone as they tell the story of your average Joe with almost nothing making it as an entrepreneur and the life lessons I've learnt which contributed to this? Lemons into lemonade?
The idea is to write it over a period of years and it will flash back constantly between different time periods ultimately all linking the different events and learning points to show my daughter how I reached where I am now so she knows my story and the defining moments in my life.
Would this make a good read you think?
:)
